Assets vs. Locations
The Asset module stores assets classified as either an asset or a location.

Location classifications can be general (city, region), or specific (building, floor), depending on the needs of your organization. They can be defined to organize your assets, even if the location is not maintained by your organization. For example, an asset hierarchy organized by city locations, even if your organization does not maintain (or create work orders) on any of these cities. In contrast, your organization might track buildings or floors as locations, and those locations might require maintenance.
- Asset classifications are more generalized classifications (HCAV, Electrical, Equipment). They are created and maintained in the Asset Classification module which is typically only available to system administrators.
The system treats assets and locations very similarly. There are, however, some subtle differences as described below:

Rotating assets are identified with the Item ID and Serial Number:
